PM Engages Political Affairs Committee on Regional Challenges and Palestinian Rights


Cairo: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, conducted a meeting with members of the Political Affairs Committee, which was established as part of specialized advisory committees, to discuss various issues and topics. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali El-Din Hilal, Professor of Political Science at Cairo University, Dr. Abdel Moneim Said, a political thinker and member of the Senate, Dr. Mohamed Kamel, Professor of Political Science at Cairo University, and Dr. Gamal Abdel-Gawad, Director of the Public Policy Programme at the Egyptian Centre for Thought and Strategic Studies.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister welcomed the committee members in their first individual meeting following the formation of these advisory committees. He emphasized the importance of focusing on political affairs during this initial meeting, given the rapid events occurring in the region and globally, and the challenges confronting the Egyptian state at this critical juncture.



Dr. Madbouly highlighted the geopolitical conditions and changes impacting both regional and international arenas, posing significant challenges related to national security and economic stability for Egypt. The meeting aimed to gather opinions, proposals, and political perspectives from committee members on these events and challenges, their future scenarios, and suggestions for addressing them, valuing insights from outside traditional governmental perspectives.



The committee members commended the political leadership’s efforts in preserving Palestinian rights and acknowledged a recent phone call between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump discussing various issues. They also praised a meeting held in Cairo with foreign ministers from Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt, alongside key figures from the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Arab League, which resulted in welcoming a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the exchange of hostages, supporting Egyptian and Jordanian positions.



Counselor Mohamed Al-Homssani, the official spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, mentioned that the meeting included an analysis of the current international political scene and anticipated scenarios for the coming phase, focusing on the strategic political perspective and its impact on Egypt. The committee proposed steps for supporting national security and Palestinian rights, including innovative ideas for the reconstruction of Gaza.



The meeting also addressed the internal political scene and its entitlements. The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the committee members’ proposals, which will be discussed with relevant ministries and state bodies to formulate specific executive steps for addressing various issues, contributing to the state’s public good.
