Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said on Sunday Egypt strongly tends to localize industry and increase the local components in line with transferring global technologies and expertise.
Madbouli’s remarks came during his meeting with Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Morsi to follow up a number of the ministry’s projects and plans.
Morsi reviewed the ministry’s development strategy, its companies’ revenues, and losses, and some of the new production plans.
Morsi pointed to the plan of turning buses into gas-powered ones, referring to inking a contract to transform 2,262 buses in Cairo and Alexandria.
The minister also talked about the signing of a memorandum of understanding with a UAE company to manufacture the EM dual-fuel pickups, adding the first batch of the electric buses (12 buses) had been produced.
He also mentioned the inking of a contract to establish a factory for producing syringes, noting the production is scheduled to start within the coming months.
