Cairo: Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, chaired the weekly government meeting at its headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, focusing on several pivotal topics and files. The meeting commenced with Dr. Madbouly extending congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian populace on the occasion of Isra and Mi’raj. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of police officers on Police Day and commemorated the anniversary of the January Revolution.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Prime Minister highlighted the initiation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, underscoring Egypt’s ongoing efforts to ensure peace in the region. He also mentioned his participation in the launch of the “Tahya Misr Fund,” a humanitarian aid convoy for Gaza, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, Dr. Madbouly discussed his representation of Egypt at the World Economic Forum Davos 2025 under the theme “Cooperation for the Smart Age.” He held discussions with international officials and business leaders, focusing on attracting investments to Egypt. He reported a positive outlook towards Egypt’s economic reforms and growth strategies.
The Prime Minister also addressed the formation of “Specialised Advisory Committees” to enhance government-private sector communication. These committees aim to establish channels for feedback and suggestions to inform policy-making processes. Meetings with relevant ministers are set to begin next week to discuss proposals from committee members.
Furthermore, the Cabinet reviewed a draft resolution to establish “The General Authority for Central Areas for Finance and Business,” aimed at developing Egypt’s financial and business sectors. The authority would enhance Egypt’s status as a financial hub and attract competitive projects globally.
In addition, the Cabinet approved several decisions, including enhancing relations with South Korea in cultural heritage through grants for projects in Cairo and Luxor. These projects involve digital documentation of artifacts and sustainable development of cultural tourism resources.
The Cabinet also extended the timeline for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.’s mobile phone manufacturing project in Beni Suef and approved a partnership with Elevate Private Equity for managing Dar Al-Salam Hospital, aligning it with European cancer treatment standards.
Lastly, the Cabinet approved measures to support exporting companies by exempting them from tax debt deductions, ensuring full payment of export burdens under a new refund program.
