Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired on Thursday 18/8/2022 the 10th meeting of the high committee tasked with preparations for the UN Climate Conference (COP27), which is due to convene in Sharm El Sheikh in November.

The meeting, which was held in the cabinet premises in New Alamain, was attended by a galaxy of ministers, top officials as well as South Sinai governor.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry underlined the importance of the high-level events that will be held on the fringe of the conference, noting that Egypt’s diplomatic missions abroad will ease all measures for granting visas to all participants of the conference.

He also noted that most initiatives that will be floated during the conference have been finalized, adding that they are relevant to water, agriculture, energy and waste management issues.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait reviewed the financial side as well as the conference’s sponsors, briefing the conferees on the finance schedule for all events that will be attended by a large number of economic and international figures.

Also, Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad reviewed the latest developments as regards the formulation of initiatives as well as organizational and logistical arrangements, extending thanks to the Health Ministry on ending all data and health guide signs that will be used in the conference.

She also pointed out to the ministry’s efforts to increase the awareness about climate issues, noting that a recent campaign under the title of “Bring Nature Back to Normal” has been launched to encourage citizens to be involved in adopting better behaviors in society.
