During a meeting with Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Madbouli said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had directed officials to follow up on the progress in the presidential initiative.
The Ministry announced that over 1,370,600 surgeries have been performed till November 23 as part of the initiative to end waiting lists which aims to expedite treatment for patients in need of urgent surgeries.
The initiative includes surgeries in heart catheterisation, bone, ophthalmology, tumors, brain catheters, cardiac catheters, brain and nerves, kidney transplant, liver transplant and cochlear transplant, said Abdel Ghaffar.
All procedures and medication provided to patients were free of charge, he added.
The Health Ministry, meanwhile, urged citizens who need to perform surgeries to register on http://wlms.smcegy.com/.
The ministry also receives citizens’ inquiries and information regarding the “waiting lists” initiative through hotline 15300.
