PM attends signing of cochlear implant deal

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended Thursday the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between Telecom Egypt and Supreme Council of University Hospitals on cochlear implant initiative.

The deal aims to help poor children and most needy brackets in society to endure the cost of these electronic devices.

Cochlear implants are small electronic devices that electrically stimulate the cochlear nerve (nerve for hearing).

The signing was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour.

Talaat said the protocol emanates from the important roles of the ministry and Telecom Egypt, given they have a wide database of clients.

The protocol seeks to attach a due attention to the most vulnerable segments nationwide, he added.

In turn, Ashour pointed out that the Supreme Council of University Hospitals has an important role in developing health system in the country and offers various health services to citizens.

The deal calls for engaging these children in society after surgeries that will help them restore their hearing sense.

Cochlear is a leader in hearing device implants that help to restore hearing and connect people to a world of sound.
