Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has emphasized that a strong commitment to occupational safety, health, and environmental protection is an essential component of the petroleum sector’s strategy. Efforts are currently being made to integrate these principles into all areas related to petroleum activities.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the Egypt Oil and Gas Convention (EOG Convention 2024), Minister Badawi delivered a special address focusing on safety, occupational health, and environmental protection. He announced the appointment of a ministry secretary dedicated to these areas, underscoring the importance of worker safety across various petroleum work sites and the necessity of preserving the environment for future generations.
Badawi highlighted that this initiative is crucial for attracting investments, as it conveys a significant message that the petroleum sector offers a safe environment for work and investment. He also expressed his appreciation f
or the efforts made by safety departments in different companies within the petroleum sector. These departments have been instrumental in fostering a culture of safety among workers, and Badawi assured his full support for their efforts in addressing any practices that may jeopardize worker safety or harm the environment.
