Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Nader Zaki, bp’s Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa, and Wail Shaheen, the company’s Vice President for Egypt. The meeting focused on bp’s activities and plans for the upcoming period, particularly their intensive drilling program in Egypt’s Nile Delta and Mediterranean concession areas.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Badawi emphasized that regional cooperation unlocks extensive opportunities for executing strategic projects, exchanging expertise, and maximizing the potential of existing technologies and infrastructure. Badawi highlighted the Egyptian government’s efforts to diversify the energy mix and increase the contribution of renewable energy, aiming to capitalize on natural resources to achieve added value.
The minister noted that the commitment of foreign partners to their projects in Egypt underscores the attractiveness of the investment climate in the Egyptian petroleum sector and its promising opportunities. Badawi mentioned ongoing efforts to accelerate the development of recent discoveries to boost production and reduce import costs.
Meanwhile, bp’s Regional Vice President highlighted the significant turnout at the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2025), showcasing its growing importance as a regional and international platform for business and knowledge exchange. He stated that bp is currently implementing an intensive drilling program in its operational areas in Egypt, aiming to inject new investments and increase the number of rigs in the coming period to achieve further discoveries and expedite the development of existing ones.
