Petroleum Minister Discusses Enhancement of Joint Cooperation with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Qahtani Group


Riyadh: During his participation in the “Iktafaa” conference and exhibition in Saudi Arabia, Engineer Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, met with Sheikh Tariq Al-Qahtani, Chairman of the Abdul Hadi Al-Qahtani Group. The meeting was also attended by Engineer Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Ministerial Affairs and the Technical Office, and the Ministry’s spokesperson.



According to State Information Service Egypt, this meeting continues discussions held in recent months where both parties emphasized the importance of cooperation in the mining sector. The sector is witnessing significant development in Egypt, and there is also collaboration with Egyptian companies in the energy field. The discussions also covered ways to increase investment and open new markets across the African continent.



Following the discussions, Engineer Karim Badawy attended the signing ceremony of two framework agreements concerning cooperation between the Al-Qahtani Group and several companies in the Egyptian petroleum sector. These companies include Tanmia Petroleum, the Engineering for the Petroleum and Petrochemical Industries Company (Enppi), and the Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (Petrojet).



The first agreement was signed by Engineer Mostafa Amin Amer, Chairman of Tanmia Petroleum, and Mr. Abdul Hadi Tariq Al-Qahtani, Chairman of PWS. The second agreement was signed by Engineer Walid Lotfy, Chairman of Petrojet, Engineer Wael Lotfy, Chairman of Enppi, and Mr. Abdul Hadi Tariq Al-Qahtani, Chairman of PWS. These agreements aim to form a strategic alliance and commercial cooperation in each party’s area of expertise and specialisation. They also intend to collaborate throughout the Middle East and Africa to develop engineering, supply, and construction projects in the fields of oil, gas, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and industry in general.
