Petroleum Minister Delivers President Sisi’s Invitation to Cypriot President for EGYPES

Nicosia: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy delivered a personal message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. This came on Saturday 25/1/2025 during Christodoulides’ meeting with Badawy, who is on a current visit to Nicosia. The message carries an invitation to the Cypriot president to attend Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) due in February.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting comes on the heels of the 10th summit of the three-way cooperation mechanism grouping Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece that was held earlier this month in Cairo. The summit asserted the importance of boosting cooperation in the field of natural gas, according to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

EGYPES 2025 will witness the inking of important agreements to develop the gas fields of Cronos and Aphrodite, located in the economic maritime zone in Cyprus, thus accelerating production of the gas fields and ensuring access to local and international markets. The statement pointed out that these efforts are meant to implement the six-pronged strategy of the ministry of petroleum which aims at maximizing the benefit of petroleum wealth, promoting regional cooperation to lure more investments and realizing economic integration between Egypt and regional countries.

For his part, the Cypriot president thanked President Sisi for sending him this invitation, adding that he is looking forward to attending this important event that will witness the inking of important agreements to develop Cypriot fields. He expressed optimism about implementing these projects as soon as possible in collaboration with Egypt, highlighting the importance of these steps to promote the two countries’ economic integration and energy security.
