Cairo: Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawy engaged in discussions with Baker Hughes Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli to further a technical study focused on gas storage in depleted fields. This study is being conducted collaboratively by Baker Hughes and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions also covered Baker Hughes’ ongoing projects and future development plans, particularly in energy transformation, emission reduction, and diversifying energy production resources. This initiative aligns with the ministry’s commitment to sustaining the local market’s fuel supply and ensuring environmental protection.
Minister Badawy emphasized the ministry’s priorities, such as boosting production by attracting investments and leveraging the Egyptian petroleum sector’s assets and infrastructure. These efforts aim to enhance the added value of energy resources. He highlighted the ministry’s continuous development measures and incentives to increase p
etroleum and mineral wealth production.
Simonelli expressed Baker Hughes’ support for the petroleum sector’s plans, stating that the company is dedicated to providing essential techniques to enhance production rates and introduce the latest suitable technologies.
