Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi ordered the formation of an advisory committee to increase the oilfield production and manage petroleum reservoirs.
The minister’s decision aims at achieving sustainability, improving efficiency and maintaining safe operation.
This came during an expanded meeting with the CEO of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the chairpersons of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope).
The Petroleum Ministry, in a statement on Tuesday, said that the committee will hold periodic meetings to follow up on enforcing recommendations, setting up mechanisms for implementation and follow-up, supporting workers, overcoming obstacles, and ensuring the accuracy of implementing the mechanisms.
During the meeting, the minister said that his ministry is working on implementing the program, presented to the parliamentary committee formed to study the new government’s program.
The program aim
s at improving policies to attract investments and providing favorable investment opportunities, the minister added.
The action plan aims at improving the efficiency of petroleum cadres and developing their expertise, Badawi said.
He further noted that the plan is also meant to improve the efficiency and operational economics and the production process, taking into consideration the application of the requirements of occupational safety and health (OSH) and environmental protection.
