The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced this evening the death of Palestinian teenager Mahmoud Basem Khmais, 18, after he succumbed to his injuries sustained by Israeli occupation forces’ live ammunition in the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron. Confrontations erupted at the entrance of Beit Ummar, during which Israeli occupation forces opened fire on the youth. Khmais sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Many more Palestinian citizens were injured by rubber-coated metal bullets and suffered from gas inhalation during the confrontations. With the killing of Khmais, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire in the occupied West Bank since the morning has risen to six. The latest developments coincide with a brutal Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip from the air, land and sea, which has so far killed 232 Palestinians, the majority of them civilians, and the injury of nearly 1,700 others.
