Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Monday sent a cable of greetings to his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the 40th anniversary of Sinai Liberation Day.

Today is an occasion to remember the heroism and sacrifices of the brave Egyptian army, Abbas said in his cable.

He hailed as “historical” relations with Egypt, and appreciated Cairo’s constant stances toward the Palestinian people and their struggle to restore their land and gain freedom and independence.
