RAMALLAH: The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Monday issued a report recounting the horrific testimonies from detainees who were subjected to various forms of maltreatment, including physical and psychological abuse during their arrest and interrogation in the occupation’s interrogation centers.

The Commission reported that Israeli occupation army brutally detained local resident Mohammad Nairat after breaking into his house and inflicting damage to its contents. He was blindfolded and handcuffed with tight plastic handcuffs, and he remained in this state for nearly 3 hours until he arrived at Hawara detention center.

Another prisoner, Wael Odeh, 44, was detained by the occupation army and was blindfolded with a strip of white cloth. His hands were tied behind his back with a thin plastic tie with sharp edges. He remained in this condition from the moment of his arrest until his arrival at Huwwara Detention Center.

The Commission indicated that Hawara detention center is one of the worst c
enters, as it lacks the minimum living and human requirements.

The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) deliberately deprives the detainees held there of blankets and clothes, and only provides them with dirty blankets. It does not provide them with hot water for bathing either, and deprives them of heating methods.

The number of Palestinian detainees in Huwara Center has so far exceeded 100.
