Palestine students participate in International Action Week

Ramallah – Together – Tens of thousands of school students in the West Bank and shelter centers in the Gaza Strip participated in beating the drums to protect education in Gaza.

This came on the occasion of the International Action Week for Education, which designated April 23 as an international day of commitment to protect education in the Gaza Strip.

The activities of the Global Action Week for Education were launched this year on April 22, 2024 in Palestine and the world. This year was marked by the opening of the week by the Prime Minister, Dr. Muhammad Mustafa, the head of the Global Campaign for Learning, Dr. Rifaat Al-Sabah, the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, and a number of Decision makers in Palestine are beating the drum to save education in Gaza.

In a statement issued by the Global Campaign for Education, it called for a state of global solidarity with education in Gaza. This week, which is organized annually in most countries of the world, including Palestine, is
a unique occasion to shed light on one of the issues or challenges related to enhancing the quality of education in those countries.

This year, in light of the grave challenges and disasters facing the education sector in Palestine, the Palestinian Educational Coalition decided that the status of education in Gaza would be the focus of this week and its various activities, taking into account the opportunity for this sector in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories to benefit from the concept of ‘transformative education.’ ‘Noting that transformative education has become a basis for achieving the goals of the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals around the world, and for intervening to help students and teachers in the Gaza Strip.

Many activities were held about education and its importance in schools and universities, focusing on the importance of the concept of transformative education.

Similar solidarity activities took place in different regions of the world, calling for the need
to protect education in Gaza and other countries where wars and armed conflicts prevail.

The head of the Global Campaign for Education called for April 23 of each year to be an international day of solidarity to protect education in the Gaza Strip.
