Over 15,000 Children Killed in Israeli Occupation’s Aggression, Says Palestinian Ministry

Over 15,000 Palestinian children have been killed since the start of the Israeli occupation’s ongoing aggression against Gaza, the majority of them were school and kindergarten students, said the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

In a statement on Tuesday, coinciding with the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, the Ministry added that 64 students from schools in the West Bank, including Occupied Jerusalem, were also killed.

The Ministry emphasized the plight of Gaza’s children, highlighting them as the “biggest victims” of the occupation’s aggression. They have suffered immensely due to the violence, including school and university closures, displacement, and deprivation of essential services.

The statement detailed the occupation’s destruction of schools and kindergartens, along with targeting civilians, including children. These acts, the Ministry stressed, constitute severe violations exceeding international norms and human rights conventions.

Due to the
ongoing aggression, over 620,000 Gazan students have been unable to attend school, and 88,000 university students face similar disruptions.

The Ministry further noted the widespread psychological trauma and health issues affecting these children.

The Ministry urged international organizations and child rights defenders to intervene and stop the escalating violations against Palestinian children, students, and educators in all territories. It demanded immediate action to end the aggression against Gaza and the attacks by the Israeli military and settlers in the West Bank.

The Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression against the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since October 7, killing 36,479 citizens, the majority of whom were women and children, and wounding 82,777 others, an infinite toll, as thousands of victims are still under the rubble.
