Lom©: Ambassador Ahmed Eid, Egypt’s Ambassador to Lom©, participated in the opening of the Coptic Orthodox Church, marking it as the first Egyptian Orthodox Church in the Republic of Togo, on January 12.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the event was attended by His Grace Bishop Mark, Bishop of Paris and Northern France, who represented His Holiness Pope Tawadros II. Father Daoud Lamei, Priest of St. Mark’s Church in Heliopolis, along with Father Youssef Stephanos and Father Anton Basada, the Supervisor of the Church in Lom©, also attended. A group of priests, embassy colleagues, and representatives from the Presidency of the Republic of Togo were present at the ceremony.
Additionally, the Ministers of Health, Religions, and Culture from the Togolese government attended the event. Members of the Arab communities in Togo and a representative of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa for the Greek Orthodox in Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso were also present.
