Amman: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has predicted that more than one million people in the Gaza Strip will face starvation and death by mid-July.

According to the FAO’s official website, the UN organization released on Wednesday its early warning report for the period between June and October 2024 on where the hunger crisis is occurring and where acute food insecurity is expected to worsen.

The report confirmed that acute food insecurity will further worsen in 18 places experiencing hunger crises, noting that the most dangerous places are Gaza and Sudan.

“The situation in Mali, Palestine, South Sudan and Sudan remains of the highest level of concern,” it said.

Data cited in the report showed that 100 percent of the Gaza Strip’s 2.2 million inhabitants are in Level 3 and above, known as “crisis” in the UN’s Integrated Food Security Interim Classification, predicting that the Israeli aggression on Gaza will “exacerbate acute hunger, which is already at a catastrophic lev
el, with famine and deaths, as well as the displacement of the entire population of the Gaza Strip.”
