RAMALLAH: Israeli occupation authorities embarked on land excavation today in the town of Sinjil, located north of Ramallah, in preparation for the construction of a barbed wire fence along the main road.

Muataz Tawafsha, the mayor of Sinjil, reported that the Israeli forces began clearing land for the fence, which will stretch over one kilometer and stand four meters high along Road 60.

Earlier this year, residents were notified that approximately 30 dunams (about 7.5 acres) of land would be expropriated for the construction of the fence.

Tawafsha expressed concerns that this barrier would effectively isolate Sinjil from the main road and restrict residents’ access to more than 8,000 dunums (1,975 acres) of farmland located behind the wall.
