Occupancy rates in five-star hotels during the current weekend at Dead Sea region reached 64%, while the percentage in Aqaba stood at 63%, the capital Amman at 44% and southern tourist attraction of Petra at 40%. In a statement to “Petra” on Thursday, vice president and spokesperson for Jordan Hotels Association (JHA), Hussein Hilalat, said occupancy rates varied based on hotel categories, as 4-star occupied rooms in Dead Sea amounted to about 47%, while the percentage in port city of Aqaba was about 54%. Meanwhile, Hilalat noted occupancy rates for the 4-star and 3-star categories in Amman amounted to 50% and 42%, respectively. As for archeological and historical site of Petra, he said the rates reached 30% and 16% for the 4-star and 3-star hotels, respectively.
