Northwest winds bring more relief from heat across Egypt

As the new week unfolds, a breath of relief sweeps across northern Egypt, all the way to Greater Cairo, thanks to the soothing embrace of northwest winds, with temperatures expected to hit highs of 33-34 degrees in the capital.

The refreshing winds will traverse various regions across Egypt, making the weather feel more agreeable, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said on Friday 11/8/2023.

Individuals exposed to direct sunlight are still advised to take precautions, given that the heat remains palpable.

The EMA again cautioned vacationers in coastal Mediterranean areas, such as Al-Alamein, Alexandria, Damietta, Port Said and Balteem, against the high waves, prompting the need for vigilance.

This weekend promises robust winds ranging from 40-50 km per second in speed and waves surging to 2-2.5 metres.

The weather will remain warm and humid in Cairo, the Nile Delta, and the North Coast throughout the week during the daytime. Conversely, the sweltering heat will persist in South Sinai and the southern regions.

According to the EMA’s forecasts, temperatures in Cairo will hover around 33-34 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the North Coast is expected to see more moderate weather, with peak temperatures settling at merely 30 degrees Celsius.

In South Sinai, the temperatures at renowned destinations such as Sharm El-Sheikh and Dahab will range from the high 30s to the low 40s during the day.

Dwellers in Beni Suef, Fayoum, and Minya in northern upper Egypt will experience highs of 35-37 degrees. On the other hand, the dwellers of southern Upper Egypt, home to the landmarks of Aswan and Luxor, will experience temperatures rising to the lower to mid-40s.
