The ongoing Israeli war on Gaza that so far left hundreds of dead, mainly children and women, and thousands injured was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today. ‘413 Palestinian martyrs, 700 Israelis killed: Israel declares war on Hamas,’ was the main front-page headline in al-Quds daily. ‘Al-Aqsa Flood continues strong in southern Israel,’ said al-Ayyam daily in its main front-page story headline. The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, said in its main front-page headline: ‘Hundreds of martyrs, thousands wounded in occupation massacres across Gaza.’ The same daily quoted President Mahmoud Abbas saying, ‘We will stand by our people and Gaza will not be alone.’ It said 18 people from the Abu Daqqa family, mainly children and women, were killed under the rubble of their home struck by Israel warplanes in Abasan in Khan Younis in the south of the Gaza Strip. It also said six Palestinians were killed in Qalandia, Jericho, Beita and Deir Sharaf, and dozens of wounded in the West Bank. Al-Ayyam said the West Bank, where seven people were killed yesterday and dozens injured in confrontations with Israeli soldiers, observed a general strike in protest against the killings in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip. It said Israel and Hizbullah exchanged gunfire in Shebaa. The paper said US President Joe Biden told Benjamin Netanyahu more American weapons were on their way to Israel. Al-Quds quoted a source in Hamas telling a Chinese news agency that Qatar is mediating a quick exchange of prisoners held by Hamas. It said Palestine called for an urgent meeting for the Arab League to discuss the situation in Gaza. It said two Israelis were killed in Egypt.
