RAMALLAH: Israel’s relentless war of genocide in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing killing of civilians, mainly children, dominated the headlines of the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.
‘On the 82nd day, Israel continues with its massacres in the Gaza Strip,’ said the main front-page headline in al-Quds daily.
The other main front-page story in the same newspaper highlighted the Israeli army killing of six Palestinians during a raid on Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm in the north of the West Bank, while a seventh died of wounds sustained in November.
Al-Ayyam daily said in its main front-page story headline: ‘Continuation of the ground assault on the refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip amidst an escalation in the armed clashes and confrontations.’
It also said: ‘220 martyrs and hundreds of wounded in 16 new massacres.’
The paper quoted the World Health Organization saying people in Gaza are facing a ‘grave peril’ due to acute hunger and disease.
The third daily, al-
Hayat al-Jadida, as usual, printed a picture from Gaza on the top half of its front page with only a few words in large font. The picture today shows a child sitting on steps who appears to be wondering as bodies of the dead and lying on the ground in front of him.
It also quoted President Mahmoud Abbas saying in a TV interview that ‘Israel plans to abolish the Palestinian existence, which will not happen.’
It also highlighted the killing of six Palestinians in Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm and said that a soldier stabbed a wounded Palestinian while being transported in an ambulance.
Al-Ayyam said a Jewish fanatic beheaded a donkey and hung its head in the Muslim cemetery just below the wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem while the police were looking for reasons for his act.
It said the Palestinian government rejected the sea corridor between Cyprus and Gaza.
Al-Quds said Israel allocated 200 million shekels for its illegal colony outposts.
