The National Council for Human Rights, led by Mushira Khattab hailed a decision by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to pardon lawyer Ziyad El Eleimi.

The presidential pardon came in response to the calls of parties, political movements, the coordinators of youth parties and politicians, and the Presidential Pardon Committee.

In a statement on Monday 24/10/2022, the council welcomed the step and said more than 1,000 prisoners have been recently released within the work of the Presidential Pardon Committee.
