National Karate Team Heads to Italy for World Championship

The national karate team has departed for Venice, Italy, to compete in the World Junior, Cadet, and Under-21 Championships, scheduled to take place from October 9 to 13. The team is set to showcase its skills against a global field of young athletes.

Jordan’s athletes competing in the tournament are Hatim Al-Harasys, Ahmed Al-Saud, Abdulrahman Haimour, Aws Saif, Waleed Qatamesh, Wasim Salameh, Saifuddin Bani Fares, Mohammad Al-Jaafreh, Hani Rasheed, and Youssef Nofal.

In preparation for the competition, the team has been training intensively at the Olympic Preparation Center, part of the Jordan Olympic Committee. Their regimen has focused on refining techniques and strategies to ensure peak performance on the international stage.

Jordan has a history of success in this championship, having won seven medals in the last edition held in Konya, Turkey, in 2022, which included one gold, three silver, and three bronze. In the 2019 edition in Santiago, Chile, Jordan’s athletes took home two golds, one silver, and
four bronze medals, underscoring the nation’s strength in the sport.

As the team heads to Italy, they carry the hopes of building on their previous successes and continuing to raise Jordan’s profile in the global karate arena.
