General Supervisor of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities Iman Karim said the council launched a national initiative “my family..my strength” which is an awareness overture for training disabled people.
In a statement on Saturday 18/02/2023, she said this will help people with special needs to effectively merge into the community in addition to backing their families.
The initiative was launched to spread awareness about means of honing skills of disabled people as this helps them to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing them.
This falls within the framework of the national strategy for human rights which was announced by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in September 2021.
The president has called on civil society to continue serious efforts to realize the sustainable development goals through Egypt Vision 2030.
The initiative will organize its activities as of Sunday. The first workshop will be held under the theme of “guiding and qualifying families of disabled people” as they are the target category of the overture whose activities will continue until March 2025.
The workshop will highlight the health and education services offered to disabled children.
The initiative is meant to encourage mothers of disabled children to continue their struggle and overcome the challenges besetting them in addition to incentivizing the civil community to offer all needed support to secure decent life for them, she said.
