MWL, GCC welcome Slovenia’s decision to recognize State of Palestine

Amman: The Muslim World League (MWL) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed the ratification by the Parliament of Slovenia of the government’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the MWL Secretary-General, Chairman of the Board of Organization of Muslim Scholars, Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa, said that this and other similar decisions “clearly reflect the qualitative shift that we are witnessing today in international awareness about the grievances of the Palestinian people and their inherent right to self-determination and the establishment of their state,” calling on other countries to follow suit, standing with the human and legal rights of the Palestinian people.

For his part, the GCC Secretary-General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, welcomed the decision of the government and parliament of Slovenia to recognize the State of Palestine, stressing that this step confirms the international community’s recognition of the rights of the Palestinian people and
will contribute to their obtaining all their legal and legitimate rights.

Albudaiwi commended the decision of Slovenia’s government and parliament to recognize the State of Palestine, indicating that this decision highlights its commitment to international laws and covenants and its support for ending the conflict in the Middle East in order to achieve a comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.

He called on all countries in the world to take similar steps to ensure a secure and sustainable livelihood for the Palestinian people.
