MOSCOW: The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has met Shaykh Rawil Gaynetdin, Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Council of Muftis, during his visit to the Russian Federation. They discussed ways to enhance mutual cooperation.

Judge Abdelsalam emphasised that the Council, through its pioneering initiatives, seeks to promote and strengthen a culture of tolerance, peace, and constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures.

He highlighted the importance of creating common spaces for cooperation between religious leaders and figures, particularly in reinforcing intra-Islamic dialogue.

Judge Abdelsalam expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia in promoting diversity, pluralism, and respect for others, especially in a country like Russia, which is home to various religions and sects.

For his part, Shaykh Rawil Gaynetdin expressed deep appre
ciation for the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, in strengthening fraternity among peoples based on peace, dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, and mutual respect.

He also praised the United Arab Emirates for promoting peace and coexistence among different religions and cultures, and highlighted the significance of the Document on Human Fraternity, co-signed by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope Francis, under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Shaykh Gaynetdin noted that the document represents a significant milestone in enhancing interfaith dialogue and serves as a fundamental reference for peaceful coexistence and human fraternity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to intensify mutual cooperation, affirming that the coming period would see several joint initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening the role of religions in addressing glob
al challenges and involving young people in promoting a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
