Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, met with Professor Damir Mukhetdinov, Principal of the Moscow Islamic Institute.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in strategic studies aimed at promoting enlightened moderate thought and presenting Islamic heritage and culture in a manner that values tolerance, coexistence, and mutual respect.

Judge Abdelsalam and Professor Mukhetdinov emphasised the importance of upholding moderation and openness to diverse world cultures.

During his visit to the Moscow Islamic Institute, Judge Abdelsalam toured the facilities, interacted with professors and students, and reviewed key educational programmes. He highlighted the crucial role of educational and religious institutions in nurturing a new generation of scholars capable of spreading Islam’s true message and fostering a culture of tolerance and peace.

He noted that the Muslim Council of Elders is committed to supporting these efforts through initiatives such as “Al
Hokama Publishing” and the Al Hokama Centre for Peace Research. These organisations focus on addressing intellectual and cultural issues and promoting peace in the Muslim world.

Professor Mukhetdinov praised the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, in promoting the values of moderation and tolerance and fostering dialogue and understanding between different cultures and religions.

The meeting concluded with a shared enthusiasm for collaborating with the Al Hokama Centre for Peace Research to expand the exchange of intellectual and scientific expertise and advance studies that promote a correct understanding of Islam.
