Mr. Hammouchi Pays Working Visit to UAE on Sep. 23-26

Rabat – In a bid to consolidate bilateral security cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the brotherly State of the United Arab Emirates, the Director-General of National Security (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, is paying a working visit to the United Arab Emirates on September 23-26, an opportunity to put in place the legal and regulatory framework aimed at strengthening and developing security cooperation between the two parties and to exchange experiences in the field of police training and the enhancement of security skills.

A MoU to oversee police cooperation and invest in security human resources

According to a press release from the DGSN-DGST Cluster, the Director-General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance began this official visit by signing a memorandum of understanding between the DGSN, represented by the Royal Institute of Police, and the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Saif Bin Zayed Academy ?for Security
and Policing Sciences, an agreement that will pave the way for implementing joint training programs and advanced internships in various police fields.

This bilateral agreement, the same source points out, also enables for exchanging expertise and practical experience, as well as benefitting from the specialization capacities of the Moroccan police and its counterpart at the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police, and exploiting them to promote the qualification of security personnel and to reinforce their skills, in addition to consolidating joint cooperation in higher studies in police, security and legal sciences.

Operational security cooperation, at the heart of bilateral talks between Mr. Hammouchi and Khalaf Al Mazrouei

In parallel with the signing of this bilateral agreement in the field of police training, the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance held wide-ranging talks with the Commander-in-Chief of the Abu Dhabi Police, Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, during
which they examined ways of developing joint security cooperation and broadening its areas and forms, in keeping with the advanced level of distinguished relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.

As part of his visit, Mr. Hammouchi also held talks with the Head of the UAE Intelligence Services, Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, focusing on various issues of joint security cooperation, including the security situation and emerging threats regionally and internationally, the press release adds.

The Director-General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance also visited new security facilities in the United Arab Emirates, including the Abu Dhabi Police’s ‘Safe City,’ considered to be one of the pioneering technological projects in the use of AI in the security and road safety fields, with the aim of enhancing the level of road safety management for drivers and road users, thanks to advanced technologies deemed to be the most modern in the world.

Multilateral security cooperation at the center of discussions with Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al Risi

As part of this visit, Mr. Hammouchi held talks with Interpol President Ahmed Nasser Al Risi, focusing on issues of global and multilateral security cooperation in which the Kingdom of Morocco is considered a key player. Both parties reviewed the various security risks and threats, as well as the means to address them according to a shared vision for a safer world.

This visit is part of the implementation of an integrated action program devised by the DGSN-DGST Hub, with a view to developing the mechanisms of international security cooperation, expanding the areas and levels of coordination and security partnerships with the various security services of brotherly and friendly countries and within international security organizations.
