Rabat – House of Representatives Speaker Rachid Talbi Alami held, here on Wednesday, talks with Chairman of Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group Aboe Bakar Al-Habsyi, who is currently on a working visit to Morocco alongside a large parliamentary delegation.
During this meeting, the two parties emphasized the depth and solidity of the historic ties between the two countries and peoples, expressing their shared willingness to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions, increase mutual visits and reinforce bilateral and multilateral coordination on parliamentary issues of common interest, a press release of the House of Representatives stated.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Indonesia-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group emphasized that the signing of the 2023 strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries reflects their firm commitment to broadening and diversifying areas of bilateral cooperation, noting that Morocco stands as a strategic partn
er for Indonesia.
In the same vein, Al Habsyi stressed Morocco-Indonesia’s strong solidarity with the Palestinian cause, hailing the prominent role played by Morocco in this respect under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee.
For his part, Talbi Alami praised the level of relations between the two countries, namely in the parliamentary sphere, stressing the importance of further promoting exchange and cooperation between Morocco and Indonesia in various fields.
He furher expressed gratitude to the Indonesian Parliament for its support to the Moroccan Parliament in obtaining “observer member” status with the AIPA (ASEAN Interparliamentary Assembly), praising the ongoing coordination and consultation between the two legislative institutions at bilateral and multilateral levels.
Highlighting the Atlantic Initiative launched by HM King Mohammed VI to promote access by Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean, Talbi Alami pointed out that Morocco is a gateway to the Afri
can market and a major investment hub, thanks to the diversity of its partnerships and its economic openness.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Morocco-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group Abdellatif El Fouikar and Indonesian Ambassador to Morocco Harsul Azwar.
