Morocco, ‘Very Dynamic’ Country in Organizing Major Sporting Events, Says Interpol Executive

Marrakech – Morocco is a ‘very dynamic’ country when it comes to hosting international sporting events, which it is working to secure in collaboration with its partners in the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), Director of Operational Support and Analysis at Interpol, Cyril Gout, stressed in Marrakech on Wednesday.

‘Morocco is a very dynamic country that will be hosting major sporting events, which we will be working together to ensure their security by setting up, through Interpol and the Stadia project, group dynamics between the different countries to strengthen security and share best practices’ in this field, Gout told the press on the sidelines of an international workshop on the safety and security of major events, organized by Interpol through the Stadia project in coordination with the DGSN.

The official, who is representing Interpol to this event, stated that the Stadia project focuses on the safety and security of major sporting events, noting that the Qatar-2022 World Cup an
d the Paris Olympic Games demonstrated the effectiveness of this system.

At this two-day workshop, experts from several countries and organizations, the United Nations and FIFA are exchanging their knowledge and expertise, with a view to preparing more effective strategies for the future, he said, adding that the Stadia project is putting in place systems, criteria, rules and procedures to manage crowds and ensure that the various partners (local authorities, transporters, hospitals, etc.) are involved in an optimal and secure way in the management of these events.

This approach ‘is deployed with strict respect for human rights and the necessary protection of personal data, while making the resources of Interpol and Morocco available to the various stakeholders,’ he pointed out, stressing the importance of real-time analysis of cybercrime risks to better detect threats and work together more effectively.
