Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tareq el Molla on Friday discussed with the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson joint cooperation in natural gas domain.
Talks came on the sidelines of the AU-EU summit in Brussels.
Molla told reporters that cooperation in natural gas field is part of Egypt’s regional role in the East Mediterranean Gas Forum and ongoing efforts to maximize the Egyptian role as a pivotal hub for trade and circulation of natural gas in the region.
Egypt is important exporter of natutral gas to Europe, Molla confirmed.
The two sides took up latest developments of natural gas markets globally in the recent period.
Discussions also dwelt on Egyptian preparations for organizing a world climate summit in November and clean energy transition efforts, where Egypt is adopting natural gas as an important transitional option at present in parallel with its strategies to maximize the contribution of new and renewable energies.
For her part, the EU official said Egypt is a main strategic partner to the EU in energy field.
