MoFA briefs diplomatic corps on dangers of Israeli settler-colonialism

RAMALLAH: Minister of Foreign Affairs today briefed the diplomatic corps on the dangers of Israeli settler-colonialist expansion and colonists’ violence.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen briefed members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the State of Palestine on the dangers arising from Israeli settler-colonialist expansion and colonists’ violence and how this is related to the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the legal consequences of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands since 1967.

Minister Shaheen demanded that the diplomats refuse dealing with the Israeli occupation government and take all necessary measures to prevent any form of involvement in the unlawful regime of settler-colonialism.

She stressed to them the need to impose a ban on Israeli colony products, put forward legislation that bans companies from dealing with or trading with the products of Israeli colonies, and ensure the suspension of the supply, sale and transportation, whet
her direct or indirect, of weapons, ammunition as well as security and military equipment to Israel, including military and security training and aid.

She affirmed the importance of international intervention to hold Israel accountable for the crimes it has committed, provide protection to the Palestinian people, end all attempts aimed at the forceful expulsion of Palestinians from their homeland and impose fait accompli.

As part of the meeting, the members of the diplomatic corps watched video footages documenting Israeli colonists’ violence and listened to the live testimony of Samya Alqam from the Turmus Ayya town in Ramallah governorate on colonists’ direct assaults against her family and town. They were provided with a factsheet and statistics demonstrating the uptick in colonists’ assaults.
