Ministry Releases Semi-Annual Report on Labor Disputes, Collective Contracts

The Labor Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Labor released its semi-annual report on Tuesday, detailing efforts to resolve labor disputes and finalize collective labor contracts.

Adnan Dahmasheh, the director of the directorate, reported that 16 collective labor contracts were signed in the first half of this year. These contracts spanned the food industries, hotels, cement industry, and communications sectors.

The directorate handled 18 labor disputes since the beginning of the year. Of these, 14 were resolved through direct negotiation, one through the conciliation delegate stage, and another reached a resolution at the labor court stage.

Dahmasheh explained that labor disputes in the private sector undergo four stages of resolution, as outlined by the Labor Law. The first stage involves a conciliation delegate from the ministry. If a satisfactory solution is not reached, the dispute advances to the second stage, which involves the intervention of the minister. The third stage is handled by the co
nciliation council, headed by the ministry. The final stage, if needed, is the labor court.
