Amman: Director of the Wages Authority Unit at the Ministry of Labor, Samer Qudah, said a total of 173 labor lawsuits were filed in the first half of 2024.
In a statement Sunday, Qudah announced the unit settled 219 labor cases in the first half of the current year, including 140 lawsuits registered in 2024, and 79 from previous years, noting that 33 others submitted this year are still under consideration.
Qudah added that the unit dealt with 394 labor complaints during the first half of the current year, and provided their litigants with legal advice guidance either by filing a lawsuit according to its jurisdiction, or by going to the competent conciliation courts.
Qudah noted the unit mediates to resolve the disputes, based on the worker’s request, adding that mediation is required to be conducted within a 6-month period from the date of termination of the worker’s services.
In this regard, he said the unit’s rulings can be appealed before the Court of Appeal within 10 days from the date of notifying t
he worker if the legal amount exceeds JD100.
