The Ministry of Information said today that the Israeli targeting of journalists in Jenin and its camp is an attempt to hide the truth about its ongoing crime since dawn today, which has led to the death of eight people and the wounding of more than 50 others. It said in a statement that besieging media crews for more than two hours inside a house in the camp, shooting at journalists, and the seizure and detonation of a camera and a transmitter are part and parcel of this policy of concealing the occupation’s crimes. The Ministry called on the International Federation of Journalists and all organizations defending the freedom of opinion to provide urgent protection for the journalists and not to wait for the Israeli occupation forces to kill more Palestinian journalists, in reference to the army killing in May of last year of Al Jazeera correspondent in Palestine Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed while covering an Israeli army incursion into Jenin refugee camp.
