Minister Shaheen stresses importance of immediate cessation of Israeli genocide in Gaza

BUCHAREST: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Varsen Aghabekian Shaheen Wednesday stressed the importance of the immediate cessation of the Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Speaking during a meeting with Titus Corla?ean, Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee in the Romanian Senate, in Bucharest, Minister Shaheen emphasized the need to immediately cease the crime of genocide perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the need to maintain international pressure on Israel to comply with international law and international humanitarian law.

She expressed her gratitude to the Romanian government for the ongoing support to the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), offering Palestinian casualties of the Gaza genocidal war specialized medical treatment in Romanian hospitals and facilitating the evacuation of dual Palestinian-Romanian citizens from the Strip.

tinian question as well as on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state based on the United Nations resolutions and international law.

Both officials voiced appreciation of the historic bilateral relations that have developed between Palestine and Romania since Romania recognized the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in 1988, with such relations manifested, inter alia, in offering scholarships to Palestinian students and supporting Palestinian institutions.

The meeting was attended by Palestine’s ambassador to Romania, Issam Masalha.
