Istanbul: Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion participating in the activities of the 2025 EMITT International Mediterranean Tourism and Travel Exhibition, in its 28th edition, being held from February 5 to 7 in Istanbul, Turkey. The opening was attended by Ambassador Amr Elhamami, Egypt’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Amr El-Qadi, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Ambassador Hatem Al-Alfi, Consul General of Egypt in Istanbul.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Mr. Sherif Fathy emphasized the importance of participating in this exhibition, which ranks as one of the most significant tourism fairs in Turkey and the fifth largest worldwide. He highlighted the Turkish market’s potential as a promising source of tourism for Egypt, particularly given the strengthening Egyptian-Turkish relations. After the inauguration, the Minister toured the
Egyptian pavilion, engaging with Egyptian exhibitors whose numbers have doubled due to increasing traffic and demand from Turkish tourists. The exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the turnout and optimism about the agreements reached during the exhibition, which could bolster tourism to Egypt.
The Egyptian pavilion attracted significant attention due to its design inspired by ancient Egyptian temple architecture and interactive activities, such as henna painting and promotional films highlighting Egypt’s cultural heritage and tourism assets. Mr. Sherif Fathy is set to conduct professional meetings with tour operators and airlines during his visit, alongside a press conference and media interviews. In his visit to Turkey, the Minister also met with the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism to discuss future cooperation and sign a tourism memorandum of understanding.
