Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy advocates for enhanced support for the athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, exuding confidence in their performance.
The sports minister forecasts a significant haul of 10 medals for Egypt throughout their journey at this esteemed event.
“The Egyptian contingent received substantial backing in their preparatory phase before embarking on their journey to Paris,” remarked Sobhy at a ceremony hosted by the Egyptian Embassy in France.
“Egypt is targeting a medal tally ranging from six to ten at the Paris Olympic Games,” he emphasized.
Of note, Egyptian archers Jana Ali and Youssef Tolba encountered a challenging start during the ranking rounds of archery on Thursday.
In the individual women’s ranking round, Jana Ali secured the 63rd position out of 64 participants with 573 points, setting the stage for a formidable encounter against Nam Suhyeon of South Korea in the knockout stage scheduled for Wednesday, 31 July.
“Jana is promising as an athlete
and holds a bright future as we groom her for the Olympic games,” said Sobhy.
“I implore all supporters to rally behind our athletes and refrain from undue criticism,” he added.
The Egyptian delegation en route to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games comprises 164 athletes, including 16 substitutes, marking it as the largest contingent in Egypt’s participation history.
Egypt is set to engage in 22 distinct sports disciplines during this prestigious tournament, encompassing three team sports.
