Abu Dhabi: Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to enhance frameworks of mutual cooperation in supporting and developing the health sector. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Global Health Week 2025, held in the United Arab Emirates from 15 to 17 April.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the ministry and the organisation on several vital issues to achieve sustainable development goals and support the health sector. Abdel Ghaffar added that the meeting addressed collaborative efforts to enhance Egypt’s capabilities in vaccine and pharmaceutical production, which would contribute to improving the efficiency of local production systems according to the highest global
quality standards, thus boosting Egypt’s ability to meet its local and regional needs for medicines and vaccines.
He continued that the meeting identified priority areas for joint cooperation, particularly in technology transfer, encouraging local and international investment, and promoting sustainable industrial development to serve the Egyptian health sector. He noted that the meeting received praise from the organisation for the pioneering role that Egypt plays in regional health initiatives, especially in vaccine production, biotechnology, and enhancing flexible healthcare systems. He added that the organisation reaffirmed its full commitment to supporting the health sector in Egypt to maximise the benefits of Egyptian expertise in industrial development both within and outside the African continent.
