Cairo: In the context of national efforts to enhance human development and achieve the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030, Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, chaired the third meeting of the Supreme Advisory Committee for Human Development, which includes a distinguished group of thinkers, experts, and specialists in the fields of human development, economics, planning, and media. The meeting aimed to discuss the latest developments in implementing the national strategy for human development.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by key figures such as Mr Mohamed Abdel-Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and Dr Hala El-Said, Advisor to the President for Economic Development and former Minister of Planning and Economic Development. Dr Magid Osman, the committee’s rapporteur and head of the Egyptian Centre for Public Opinion Research “Baseera”, and the former Minister of Communications and Information Technology
were also present. Dr Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the meeting discussed the importance of health and education as fundamental pillars for achieving sustainable development, emphasizing their integration as the cornerstone for building more aware and healthy generations.
The meeting reviewed efforts focusing on children in the kindergarten stage, concentrating on developing their skills, encouraging creativity, and providing integrated educational, health, and developmental programs. The official spokesperson added that the committee explored ways to expand the establishment of nurseries and kindergartens, in line with the state’s plan to support early childhood. Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar directed the committee to transform ideas and visions into executable programs and projects, with clear timelines to be presented later to the ministerial group for human development to study implementation mechanisms.
The meeting also addressed eff
orts to improve the health and nutritional status of children, discussing the state’s plans to combat malnutrition and reduce stunting rates among children, within the framework of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Human”. The discussions highlighted ways to enhance the quality of education and learning outcomes at the pre-university education stage by developing teachers’ capabilities, providing an effective learning environment, and ensuring equal opportunities for all age groups to receive distinguished education.
Mr Mohamed Abdel-Latif confirmed that the Ministry of Education and Technical Education is working on several axes aimed at developing the educational system as a whole, reflecting on maximizing benefits for students. The ministry is intensifying efforts to enhance literacy rates among primary stage students, focusing on addressing the level of students struggling with reading and writing and preparing remedial programs to improve their performance. The curriculum is
being developed continuously to keep pace with global developments, while prioritizing the improvement of the nutrition system for school students to ensure they receive comprehensive meals that enhance their health and academic success.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to continue coordination between relevant authorities to ensure achieving the desired goals, with regular follow-up on the implementation of recommendations and working on providing innovative and sustainable solutions. The meeting was attended by a diverse group of officials and experts, including Dr Abla El-Alfy, Deputy Minister of Health, and Dr Ahmed Darwish, former head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, among others. Dr Huda Rashad, Director of the Social Research Centre at the American University, participated via video conference.
