Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hunaifat inaugurated Thursday a fodder laboratory at the Animal Wealth Directorate building in the capital. He pointed out that the fodder laboratory was established through an agreement with the Environmental Compensation Fund at a cost of 700,000 Jordanian dinars, in addition to 376,000 Jordanian dinars for veterinary treatments and pesticides. The Amman-based laboratory and the Aqaba-based laboratory will facilitate the flow of feeding, while reducing time and increasing the accuracy of viral, bacterial, mycotoxin and mold tests, ensuring the safety of the imported, exported and local product. Hunaifat stressed that developing the livestock sector is one of the priorities of the national plan for sustainable agriculture, adding that in 2022 and 2023, the ministry worked to appoint 200 animal production engineers and 60 veterinarians and employ 150 engineers for a vaccination campaign to vaccinate more than 4 million cattle against foot and mouth disease, in addition to purchasing 5 vehicles to facilitate the work of ministry cadres, awarding a tender for 1.5 million electronic chips for numbering purposes, and establishing 3 veterinary hospitals in the three regions.
