Cairo: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth Karim Badawy asserted that ‘Egypt Gas’ company plays a vital role in implementing the six axes of the current work strategy of the Ministry of Petroleum. The company is pivotal in meeting the petroleum product needs of citizens at minimal costs by boosting production, intensifying excavation efforts, and leveraging the sector’s infrastructure and resources in refining, petrochemicals, gas line networks, and crude oil and product distribution.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the company significantly contributes to the mineral wealth sector, aiming to enhance its contribution to local products and restructure the energy mix. This effort is in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, which seeks to increase the share of renewable energy in Egypt’s energy mix to 42% by 2030.
This statement was made during Badawy’s participation in the general assembly activities of ‘Egypt Gas’, where the 2024 fiscal year outcomes were discussed and approved. ‘Egypt Gas’ is also integral in promoting safety, occupational health, environmental sustainability, and energy rationalization. The company’s positive role in creating a safe environment to attract investments ensures the safety of workers.
Badawy emphasized the outstanding outcomes achieved by the company in both 2024 and previous years. Meanwhile, Chairman of Egypt Gas Wael Gowayed marked the company’s activities in 2024, coinciding with its 42nd anniversary since its establishment in 1983. Gowayed presented a documentary showcasing the company’s role in delivering natural gas to households, as well as commercial and industrial facilities.
