Minister of Civil Aviation Mahmoud Abbas asserted that Egypt is committed to enhancing the security, stability and environment of international aviation as well as developing the air transportation industry through supporting the initiatives of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
This came in his speech before the 41st Session of the ICAO General Assembly in Canada that brings together representatives of 193 Member States to discuss the state of the global air transport industry.
He hailed the ICAO and its efforts to support regional and international cooperation in the civil aviation sector.
He also pointed out that the Egyptian state has been supporting the civil aviation sector, as one of the main axes of national economic development, within the framework of Egypt Vision 2030, which is a long-term strategic plan to achieve the principles and goals of sustainable development in all fields.
ICAO Assembly is the Organization’s sovereign body. It meets at least once every three years and is convened by ICAO’s governing body, the Council.
ICAO’s 193 Member States and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which establishes the worldwide policy of the Organization for the upcoming triennium.
