Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir said Saturday 04/12/2021 the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) and Transmashholding Egypt company agreed on offering technical support to new railways locomotives for 12 years.
The Russian company will work for ensuring the operation of the trains with high efficiency and offering quality services to passengers, added Wazir during an expanded meeting Saturday with CEO of Transmashholding Sergo Kurbanov.
Under the deal, 20 experts from Transmashholding company will train Egyptian engineers and employees in this sector, according to the Egyptian official.
Wazir pointed out the ministry will sign all recent maintenance contracts as part of efforts aimed at implementing a five-axis comprehensive plan aimed at upgrading the railways system in the country.
The ENR had signed a contract with the Russian-Hungarian consortium Transmashholding-Hungary Kft. for the supply of 1,300 passenger cars.
The deal is the largest in the history of Egyptian railways.
