Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday conducted a series of meetings at the Grand Serail, focusing on the issues related to the displacement crisis caused by ongoing Israeli aggression.

During a meeting with the Food Importers’ Syndicate, President Hani Al-Bohsali assured that food supplies remain stable as long as Beirut’s airport and port operate. However, he noted the pressure on supermarkets due to the influx of approximately 1.2 million displaced individuals.

Al-Bohsali emphasized the importance of maintaining steady supplies and called for improvements in the customs system to expedite cargo processing.

Mikati also welcomed a delegation from the General Labor Union, led by Bechara Asmar, who thanked the Prime Minister for the national initiative addressing the needs of displaced persons.

Asmar highlighted the necessity of ensuring essential services for the displaced and called for action against the exploitation of their situation, especially regarding rent and food prices.

nally, Mikati met with Health Minister, Firas Al-Abiad, and Environment Minister, Nasser Yassin, to discuss government measures for handling the displacement crisis. He also held discussions with several lawmakers, including former MP Bahia Hariri and MP Ihab Matar, regarding the overall situation and the urgent need for national unity amid rising tensions.

The Prime Minister then met with Major General, Tony Kahwaji, head of military intelligence, with whom he addressed security concerns related to the influx of displaced individuals.

Mikati urged collaborative efforts to ensure the safety and stability of all communities in Lebanon.
