Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Monday received a joint invitation from King Abdullah II of Jordan, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, to participate in the “Emergency Humanitarian Response in Gaza” conference, which will be hosted by Jordan on June 11.
The conference will convene leaders, heads of governments, and representatives of various organizations to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Earlier today, Mikati welcomed Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, and Jordanian Ambassador, Walid Al-Hadid, at the Grand Serail, where he was formally handed the invitation to the conference.
In a separate meeting attended by Deputy Prime Minister Saadeh Al-Shami, Prime Minister Mikati hosted a delegation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) led by Hela Cheikhrouhou, Vice President for the Middle East and Central Asia. The discussions focused on the ongoing relationship between Lebanon and the IFC, with Prime Minister’s
advisor Samir Al-Daher also in attendance.
Prime Minister Mikati also met with Tajik Ambassador to Lebanon, Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, with whom he discussed bilateral relations between the two countries.
Additionally, Mikati received a delegation from the Tripoli Medical Association, led by its President, Dr. Mohammad Safi.
Following the meeting, Dr. Safi said, “We were honored to visit the Prime Minister and requested his patronage for the Arab Doctors Conference, which will be held in Tripoli from July 4 to 6. The Prime Minister graciously accepted to sponsor the event, which we hope will be a successful and significant conference, bringing pride to Tripoli and Lebanon.”
