Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met on Monday with Telecom Minister Ali Hamie over a fresh report by the British Telegraph daily claiming Hezbollah is using Beirut airport to store missiles.
“I informed the PM of the details of the issue published by the Telegraph regarding the Rafic Hariri International Airport and its tampering with the airport’s reputation,” Hamie told reporters following the meeting. “We discussed the legal procedures the Lebanese state will certainly adopt, because this issue is part of the psychological war on Lebanon and of tarnishing its reputation and that of the airport, which is the sole aerial facility in Lebanon,” he added. “We also discussed our invitation for all the ambassadors to conduct a field tour of the airport’s departments,” he concluded.
Mikati also held talks on Monday with Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib and Defense Minister Maurice Sleem, respectively.
